The British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA) announced that it has updated its BAMA Guide to the UK Aerosol Dispenser Regulations 2009.
When the UK exited the EU, the UK Aerosol Dispensers Regulations 2009 were amended to adopt the requirements set out in the EU Aerosol Dispenser Directive (75/324/EEC) into UK law. In 2022, BAMA issued a guide covering how the UK regulations apply in both in Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales) and in Northern Irelands.
In the years since, the UK regulations have been further amended several times in relation to compliance marking. The most recent amendment allows marketers to continue, on permanent basis, to use of the so-called reversed epsilon (3) mark to claim compliance with the UK regulations. Now, BAMA has taken the opportunity to revise the BAMA Guide so that it offers updated advice on how to comply with the requirements of the UK regulations, including selection of container and propellants, contents declaration, labelling and compliance marking, as well as providing some detailed advice on flammability classification and the hazard analysis. The Guide also updates the advice for placing aerosol dispensers on the market in Northern Ireland.
