Gracie Wong has been appointed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as Manager of the Technical Development Section.

In her new role, Wong will lead the development of innovative strategies to reduce ground-level ozone formation, air toxics and greenhouse gases in consumer products and aerosol coatings. She will provide strategic direction and support her team in conducting industry surveys, updating emission inventories and performing technical evaluations to assess the feasibility, cost and environmental impacts of consumer product regulatory amendments.
Previously the Consumer Products Manager at CARB, Wong led the development of a toxics prioritization methodology to inform the 2023 Consumer Products Survey, aiming to identify and reduce toxics through targeted prohibition strategies. In collaboration with toxicologists at OEHHA, she aligned cross-agency efforts to integrate toxics priorities with ozone reduction goals. By estimating emissions reductions based on ingredient reactivity, the approach supports flexible, data-driven regulation that advances CARB’s air quality goals while allowing industry to formulate effective products. She values translating complex scientific information into clear, actionable recommendations that support informed decision-making across diverse audiences, the organization stated.
