Trivium Packaging announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved the company’s net‑zero target, confirming Trivium’s long-term greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals are consistent with a 1.5°C pathway and the global objective to reach net‑zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.
The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that develops standards, tools and guidance enabling companies to set GHG reduction targets in line with climate science. Partners include the CDP, UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), WWF and the We Mean Business Coalition.
“SBTi approval gives our teams and partners confidence in our commitment to decarbonization,” said Michael Mapes, CEO, Trivium Packaging.
“We’ll continue to focus on sustainable sourcing, increasing our use of renewable electricity, prioritizing ecodesign and minimizing our energy consumption while enhancing efficiency. We’ll also be transparent about our progress every year.”

To achieve its net-zero target, Trivium’s execution remains focused on key levers: sustainable sourcing, increasing renewable electricity, prioritizing ecodesign, minimizing energy consumption and enhancing efficiency.
Progress until Dec 2024 vs. 2020
Trivium said it reduced Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 31% since 2020. For Scope 3, the company reduced its emissions by 19% since 2020. It also retained EcoVadis Platinum and CDP A List recognition, further strengthening the foundation for its SBTi-approved pathway.

Trivium will report annually on progress and maintain third-party assurance via its annual sustainability report.
